I was made part redundant at the beginning of the pandemic. It was a very tough time not just because of the mental exhaustion that comes with redundancy, but also because the pandemic made it feel as though there was no way out.
My wage was cut by a third and it was near impossible to find a new job. I sat at home constantly applying for jobs. But then after 2 months, I was offered a dream position, one I never thought would happen, but there was problem, it was in the arts. As I waited for Nicola sturgeon to say what phase the arts could re start, more and more restrictions were added and taken away, more confusion and panic spread because of the virus. And my dream role is on hold. The loneliness was actually the hardest part, I had self belief that I would get back on my feet, but sitting on my own not having anyone to reassure me or push me made it a very difficult 6 months.
